Just figured I'd stir up the pot a little by posing a fun question....

Riddle Rider:
Would the serial possibly be The Return of Chandu. If memory serves me Principal released the first couple of chapters as a feature with the balance shown as a serial in 1934. Barcroft |

I was going to say Tarzan the Fearless, which I think was released the same year as the serial in 1933

I'm going with THE LOST CITY in 1934.

The first feature version to be realeased of a sound serial | #4 | ||
|
From various lists, websites, etc I had compiled my own chart of feature versions of serials to see how many there were and how many I could get. I don't know how accurate all the information is, but if it is all accurate, then my guess would be the 1932 release of the feature version of the 1931 serial, THE SIGN OF THE WOLF. I don't know if that is the correct release date, or if there even is a feature version of that serial, but at one time or another I found that information somewhere in that bastion of rock-solid information that we know as the internet. |

Chuck, read my post carefully. I didn't specifically indicate that it would be a sound serial. It might be...then again, it might not.
Heh heh heh....

Going by Roy Kinnard's book Fifty Years of Serial Thrills, it would Arrow Films' California in '49 (1924).

toddgault wrote: That's a good guess, Todd. And CALIFORNIA IN '49 certainly is a legitimate feature version (of Arrow's DAYS OF '49). I really don't expect anybody to get this one right; I just thought you guys might be interested in knowing. If nobody comes up with the title by tomorrow evening, I'll post it then. Next time I'll whip up a question about a sound serial, so you guys have a better chance of knowing the answer. I'm just trying to get conversation going here. |

Riddle Rider wrote: I like that idea. Perhaps Todd could pin a trivia thread and you could post a question a few times a weeks. And Ace seems to have a question of two up his sleeve. I think it wuld be swell fun to get a trivia thread going.

How about Fantomas in 1913?
Or in could be The Masked Rider in 2009.

Do you guys just want this thread pinned or do you want an entire Trivia board? Just tell me and it's all good either way.

I guess my vote goes to just pinning this thread. That way we have one question at a time, and once it has been guessed upon for a few days (and the answer revealed one way or the other) we then can move on to the next question. This would keep the quiz in one location and easy for everyone to find and keep track of. |

I would vote to pin this thread. Post the question and give a day or two before the answer is posted so everyone that wants to can give a guess.

Since there is a demand for trivia, I'm gonna begin posting questions from the trivia contests I ran at SerialFest. Here is my personal favorite. What is
the name of the queen in Flash Gordon?
