Tough question. I'm torn between Barcroft and Middleton, but will go with Barcroft. He seems gregarious and a fun guy to talk to. Anthony Warde did an
interview with Those Enduring Matinee Idols (TEMI) years ago and really didn't seem all that interested in his serial work.
Smiley I notice a lack of ladies in your poll! Perhaps another is called for asking which ladies you'd like to have dinner with |

Ladies are next, Black Tiger. Then maybe kids, directors. I am kicking around several polls in a similiar vein.

Good poll, tough question, Smiley. I went with Clayton Moore, as I am a big fan of his work. I don't really know the personalities or background of any of them, so I am not sure if one of the others would be a better choice conversationally. |

This was a tough vote for me, even though I was able to eliminate three guys I've spoken to at length (Crabbe, Moore, and Alyn). I was never that big a fan
of Warde's, and I heard most of Barcroft's best stories through Alan Barbour, who talked to him several times. I suspect Paul Kelly would not have been
crazy to discuss THE SECRET CODE, and I doubt Middleton would have had a whole lot to say, other than complaining about the time he spent in makeup every
morning as Ming. (I've heard that was his biggest complaint about the role.) That left Richmond and Hull, in whom I'm equally interested. But I heard a
lot about Richmond from my friend Sam Sherman, who interviewed him in 1962 for a SCREEN THRILLS ILLUSTRATED article. So I went with Hull. It was still a tough
choice.

My natural choice would have been Charles Middleton, but I had to go with Roy Barcroft because I have heard from many people who worked with him was a great
person he was. I never heard one person say a bad word about him. One person I did spend time with was Henry Brandon, and he was another wonderful person.
William Witney wrote in his autobiography that Brandon was "The finest man G-d ever put on this Earth." He was in demand for the Sons Of The Desert
group, and when he passed away we all felt like we lost a good friend.
I am allready trying to decide whom to vote for in the ladies. Remember, you can always trust Honest Pa Stark |

I'm Black Tiger I voted for Roy Barcroft but I almost voted for Paul Kelly. I have read stories about some of the drunken fights he had with some of the A
listers in Hollywood. I would be curious to hear his side of the story about the fights and his relationship with Barbara Payton.

From what I've read about Paul Kelly he doesn't seem to be like someone I'd want to spent a lot of time with... unless he was backing me up in a
fight maybe.
Barcroft seems to have been the most aminable. Clayton Moore has always been a personal favourite of mine but I thing Barcroft having done more roles and for that matter more different roles, would be the most interesting. |

Duh!!! Who do you think I would have lunch with!!!!!! With out a doubt it would be Mr. Barcroft. I had spoken with Adrian Booth at SerialFest about Roy and
she told me with out of a doubt he was one of the warmest people you would ever want to meet. Quick with a joke, a good musician and a great friend. She
nicknamed him Bear Claw and when she autographed one of her pictures she signed it to Barcroft "Bear Claw". Ah! if only we had a time machine and
bring him in for a Fest what a blast that would be just to pick his brain.

I selected Kane Richmond because I'm unaware of any published interviews he did before his death.
Crabbe, Moore Allen and Barcroft all either were interviewed or made appearances at film conventions where they discussed their careers. And Middleton's grandson has written about him. I also could have selected Byrd for similar reasons. |

Ditto for Kane Richmond... a) he's a Minnesota guy... b) basically loved Spy Smasher... c) he did three Shadow films for Monogram, and along with
BdogDrummond the Shadow is my favorite serials... radio/movies... character.
